Anthropology News is accepting proposals for our September issue on “Codifying Anthropological Ethics.” At this key moment during the AAA Code of Ethics revision, we ask our members to consider what this process should entail. Have you encountered ethically complex situations where guidance would have been helpful? How have available guidelines and advice met or failed to meet your needs? View the full call for proposals and guidelines and submit your article proposal by May 25, 2009 to dwinnick [at] aaanet.org. Early submissions are encouraged.
Looking for teaching resources on ethics? LL Wynn from Macquarie University shares with us new online ethics training materials for social science and humanities students. Read a blog post on the topic at Culture Matters or link directly to the training course. It’s Creative Commons licensed, so anyone can assign it in teaching, use it as the basis for lecture notes, or use it to create their own ethics training curriculum. The current beta version will be revised later this year.
