Former Congressman James A Leach has been nominated by President Obama to serve as chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities. While in the House of Representatives, Leach founded and co-chaired the Congressional Humanities Caucus. The nomination is supported by the National Humanities Alliance (NHA), which honored Leach in 2005 with the Sidney R Yates Award for Distinguished Public Service in the Humanities. AAA is a member of the NHA, and AAA Executive Director Bill Davis serves on the NHA Board of Directors.
