University Support for Student Veterans

Today’s Inside Higher Ed features an article on “Campuses as Vet-Friendly Zones,” by Elizabeth Redden. Many colleges and universities are developing support programs for student veterans in anticipation of the increase in veteran enrollment that is expected once the new GI Bill takes effect in August.

The article includes comments from John Powers, co-founder and executive director of Student Veterans of America. Powers co-authored “Military Veterans at Universities: A Case of Culture Clash” with Irene Glasser and William Zywiak for the May issue of Anthropology News, accessible via AnthroSource.

May Anthropology News includes a number of commentaries on veterans’ issues, some of which are available to the public for download on AN‘s featured article page. The full issue is available via AnthroSource (for AAA members) and Wiley Interscience (for non-members).
