The Penn Museum has released its Nov-Dec 2009 event calendar, which includes several “pay-what-you-want” lectures of interest to both anthropologists and the general public.
- Nov 2, 5:00 pm: “Museums, Antiquities, and Cultural Property” with James Cuno, Director of the Art Institute of Chicago and author of Who Owns Antiquity? Museums and the Battle over Our Ancient Heritage.
- Nov 11, 6:00 pm: “No Armchair Archaeologists Allowed: Travails of Travel on Early Penn Museum Expeditions through Photographs and Anecdotes,” with Penn Museum archivist Alessandro Pezzati.
- Dec 8, 6:00 pm: “Reports from the Field,” with Simon Martin (Assoc Curator, American Section) and Lauren Ristvet (Dyson Chair, Assist Prof, Dept of Anthro) on work in Mexico and Azerbaijan.
