The Penn Museum has announced an evening of talks, tutored tastings, and a book signing with Patrick McGovern, Scientific Director of the Museum’s Biomolecular Archaeology Lab, and Dogfish Head Brewery’s Sam Calagione, on October 8, 6:00 pm. The event will include all three of Dogfish Head’s re-created “ancient ales”: Midas Touch, Chateau Jiahu and Theobroma. The museum notes:
Whether mind-altering, medicinal, a religious symbol, a social lubricant, or artistic inspiration, fermented beverages have been a profound force in history.
McGovern will sign his new book, Uncorking the Past: The Quest for Wine, Beer, and Other Alcoholic Beverages (UC press). Tickets can be purchased online.
