2010 IUAES Inter-Congress in Turkey

The Ahi Evran University dept. of anthropology has announced that the 2010 IUAES Inter-Congress will be held in Antalya, Turkey, October 3-6, 2010, with the theme: “From the Crossroads of Civilizations: Understanding Cultural Diversity to Connect Societies.” The organizers note:

We believe that the physical and metaphorical bridge that Turkey embodies creates an optimum perspective from which to approach, investigate, and share with one another methods for exploring key anthropological subjects: cultural diversity, multiculturalism, migration, transnationalism, the other, belonging, and religion, politics, ethnicity, culture, and gender.

Abstract submissions will be accepted April 15–July 1 and notification of acceptance will be given by August 1. Email abstracts to Anna Heumann (aheuma1 [at] tigers.lsu.edu) and Ferhat Kaya (ferhatkaya [at] att.net). The conference will be held at the Atlantis Hotel, 35 km from Antalya International Airport, with excursions in Antalya, Istanbul, Cappadocia and Ephesus. Complete early registration through the ASTERYA travel company by August 20, 2010. Fees range from 130 to 220 euros.
