A session from the 2009 AAA Annual Meeting, “Survival and Thriving in Indonesia”, which honored the work of anthropologist Stanley Ann Dunham, mother of Barack Obama, will be televised on C-SPAN 2′s Book TV on Sunday December 20 at 2pm (and 4am).
Panelists at the AAA session included Alice Dewey (Dunham’s graduate advisor), Nancy Cooper (a fellow graduate student), and Maya Soetoro-Ng (Dunham’s daughter). Ms. Dunham’s 1992 dissertation on the rural Javanese metal industry was recently released as a book by Duke University Press.
