On March 4, Inside Higher Ed covered the release of a report by Harvard’s Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education on the experience of Generation X faculty, based on interviews with tenure-track faculty members at four-year colleges and universities. Topics addressed include relationships with colleagues across generations and interest in family-friendly policies that facilitate work-life balance.
On March 8, the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources released its 2009-10 report on faculty salaries, which showed that salaries fell for 36.2% of faculty and the median salary change for faculty members was 0% (additional detail by discipline available). The AAUP will issue a report next month with information by institution.
