The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is now accepting applications for its International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF). This fellowship offers 9-12 months of support to graduate students (regardless of citizenship) in the humanities and social sciences who are enrolled in doctoral programs in the United States, and conducting dissertation research outside the United States. IDRF accepts applications for research that is situated in a specific discipline and geographical region and is informed by interdisciplinary and cross-regional perspectives, as well as research on multiple countries and/or multiple world regions. While proposals may cover all periods in history, they must demonstrate relevance to contemporary issues and debates. Applicants must complete all PhD requirements except on-site research by the time the fellowship begins or by December 2011, whichever comes first. Application deadline is November 3.
