An interview with AAA member Mary Catherine Bateson appeared in the Home and Garden Section of the New York Times on August 26. In the article Bateson shares photos of her home in New Hampshire, reminiscences about her childhood and discusses her new book which explores the impact of longevity on family life.
“Home is a very important metaphor for me…[h]ow do you make a home when there is discontinuity? You are a single mother, there is a bad marriage, a job change. I started to define the word ‘home’ as an environment in which one grows and learns, rather than just a refuge.”
